Creative Discoveries is a partnership with local cultural and creative arts organizations that enables STORY to provide exploratory art programs.
STORYBOOK Program
STORYBOOK is one of STORY’s new fall programs, a book club and writing collective for middle school students. Participants will write semi-autobiographical novellas. They also will work in conjunction with editors from Feels Blind Literary, a national magazine publishing work from new and established writers, to produce a special apprentice issue featuring excerpts from their work. Participants will have the opportunity to experience an authentic editorial and revision process, as well as a professional interview and photoshoot for Feels Blind’s website and their book jacket covers.
The program begins September 2021 and will meet every Thursday. Participants will work with workshop leader and VCU Writing Professor, Lindsay Chudzik and VCU service-learning students. Once a month, a visiting writer will facilitate a writing workshop or lead a book discussion. The program is limited to 12 participants.
